Why are we starting a 2nd service?

2024 has been a year of significant transitions and growth for our church. This includes welcoming a new Senior Pastor for the Korean Ministry and experiencing changes in the education department's pastoral leadership. Supporting our next-generation ministries is a top priority, and we've identified that our 9:30 am ministries have a large need for volunteers.

Since the GL service also takes place at 9:30 am, it limits opportunities for members to serve in the education department during that time. After careful consideration, we believe introducing an 11:15 AM service is the best structural solution. This change allows people to serve during the 9:30 slot while still having a dedicated worship service to attend.

What will the second service look like?

This service is designed to provide a simple, grassroots worship experience for volunteers serving at 9:30 am. It will have a house church feel, with acoustic-style worship and a more intimate setting. Picture a worship gathering in your living room—that's the vibe we're aiming for as we begin.

As the congregation grows, there may be changes in the service's production level over time. For now, we're embracing a raw, authentic, and non-consumeristic approach to worship.

At this stage, we don't yet have a dedicated volunteer team in place, as we're still determining who our consistent participants will be.

Volunteers?

We encourage you to attend one service and serve during the other. The 11:15 service will need volunteers, and we would love for you to be part of the team!

Do I need to attend a GL service if I’m serving in the education department?

We encourage you to have a home congregation where you can worship alongside your peers while serving our younger students. Being connected to a larger church community helps prevent feelings of isolation and fosters a sense of belonging. We hope you will be able to build great relationships and fellowship with other volunteers as you serve but want to help you be a member of the larger church.

What about fellowship time and connecting with others?

The 9:30 am service will stay the same format with lunch service afterward. We encourage you to arrive early, eat/fellowship together, then join us on the 3rd floor for service at 11:15 am. We will have some time for fellowship and refreshments after service on the 3rd floor.

Why are we meeting on the third floor?

The space is more cozy and appropriate for our current needs. We also want to minimize the disruption to the existing flow of our current 9:30 am service.

Who will be leading the 2nd service?

The second service will implement the same rotating sermon series system between Pastor Eugene and Pastor Mike consistent with the 9:30 am service.

Can I attend the 11:15 am service even if I am not serving elsewhere?

Yes of course!
